Clause opens a subsidiary in Algeria

11/09/2008

On the 1st of July 2008 Clause opened its newest subsidiary, Clause Maghreb, at Cheraga in the suburbs of the Algerian capital Algiers.

A team of ten, including a sales force of agronomists will cover the whole of Algeria, and guarantee the development of new and existing varieties from Clause’s extensive range. Clause’s vegetable varieties have been sold in Algeria for more than 50 years, and are recognised as having an overall leading position in the Algerian market. The varieties developed by Clause for the Algerian market come from the company’s modern and innovative breeding programmes, which are geared to the needs of Algerian farmers. Tomatoes and Peppers are the key species for this market, backed up by Squashes, Melons, Watermelons, Eggplants, Cucumbers, Fennels and Cauliflowers. Clause can rightfully claim to be a serious player in all of these species.

The positive collaboration between Clause and Agrosemences, who has been the importer of Clause varieties over the past 12 years, has opened the way to the creation of Clause Maghreb. This new subsidiary marks an important step in the future strategy of Clause. It notably confirms the company’s policy of assuming the control of its development in a market with a strong future potential. On a wider scale it is a further step in the international development of Clause, a subsidiary in the French Group Limagrain.
